The prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, awarded to Nanosight in 2012
Last Friday, I was delighted to visit a truly outstanding company within the constituency. I am continually surprised by the diversity and high quality of our local businesses, and a visit to Nanosight was no exception. The prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise was being presented to the company, adding to a successful string of accolades for the SME – which has also been named the UK’s fastest growing biotechnology company this year.
Salisbury has a wealth of technological expertise that I hope we can capitalise on in the future, but it is the SMEs that are developing exciting new innovations who will drive forward growth in the constituency. Nanosight exports some 90% of its products – highlighting its quality within a competitive global market.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are offered in three categories to businesses from the breadth of sectors in the UK. They celebrate the most innovative, internationally successful and sustainable companies in the country, and 86% were SMEs. I was glad to be able to celebrate Nanosight’s success in the international trade category, and I hope other businesses will consider entering the 2013 awards.
More information about entering in 2013 can be found onlineĀ here.
